Instructions for Front Gate operation

Owner operation: The primary method for operating the gates will be via remote controls provided to each member. There are two buttons on the remote. Pressing the one button will open the entrance gate. The gate will automatically close after you drive through the entrance. The exit gate will open automatically as you approach it. The sensor is on the west side of the road, 100 yards north of the exit. Please stay on the right hand side of the road as you approach the gate. If you drive in the middle or on the left hand side of the road, the sensor may NOT be able to detect your vehicle. In the unlikely event the gate does not open automatically, press the two button on the remote; this is a secondary or backup method of opening the exit gate. Like the entrance gate the exit gate will automatically close after you drive through it.

Guest Communication: Your name (as you defined) and telephone number have been programmed into the entry system. Your guests will use the entrance control panel to scroll through all residents' names. When they have selected your name, they will press the call button. This will establish phone communications with your home via your existing home phone.

Granting or Denying Access: Once you have answered the phone call and identified your guest, you may either grant access or deny access to your guest. To grant access, press 9 on your touch-tone telephone BEFORE you hang up. The telephone entry system will respond with a confirmation tone, indicating that the gate is opening and will automatically disconnect itself. You can hang your telephone up at this time. Some newer telephones emit a very short duration tone when the number is pressed. If your telephone does this, you may have to press the number 9 twice in rapid succession to open the gate. To deny access to your guest, press the # key BEFORE you hang up.

Call Waiting: If you are on your home telephone when a guest tries to contact you from the telephone entry system, they will hear a busy signal and will have to wait for you to end your call before they can contact you. To eliminate this problem, you can add call waiting service to your home telephone by contacting your phone company provider.

Privacy: Some members have chosen not to have their name displayed on the telephone entry system directory. Your telephone number will be stored in the telephone entry system and NEVER displayed to a guest.

Access Code: The telephone entry system is equipped with individually selected access codes that will also open the gate. To use your code, press the # key, then enter your four digit code on the entry system control panel. The gate will then open. Please maintain the confidentiality of your number to maintain the security this system provides.

Responding to a Guest Call: When communication is established, the resident has the option of opening the gate by pressing 9 on their touch-tone telephone BEFORE they hang up. They can also deny access to their guest by pressing # on their telephone. If access is granted the resident will hear a confirmation tone in their telephone handset indicating that the gate has opened, then the system will automatically hang up. If you are not going to grant access, ALWAYS press the # key on your telephone before you hang up. If you just hang up to deny access instead of pressing the # key, the entry system will remain on the line until its programmed talk time expires or the until the unit detects a dial tone. Some newer telephones emit a very short tone rather than a continuous tone when their keys are pressed. This may cause the telephone entry system to be unresponsive to the tone from this particular type of telephone. If this happens, simply press the 9 key twice in rapid succession to open the gate.

Using an Entry Code: Four digit entry codes also provide a means for a resident to gain access by entering their selected code on the entry system key pad located at the front gates. To use the code, first press the # key and then enter your four digit code. The system will emit a tone (beep) and the display will show OPEN when a valid code is entered on the keypad. Members should keep their unique code secret. Telling other persons their code, or allowing other persons to use their code, compromises security and defeats the purpose of the system.
